LYNCHBURG, Va.--Mar. 22, 2019—Residents of Amherst, Virginia, will no longer need to be envious of their Lynchburg neighbors. The popular drive-through coffee shop Joe Bean’s is opening its seventh location July 26 across from the Bank of the James off Route 29. Shop Owner Linda Brown has found the perfect location, one she’s been scouting for several years.

 

“We are so excited to finally be opening a store in Amherst!” Brown said. “Many of our amazing employees have commuted from Amherst for years, so we already have a full staff waiting to serve the town.”

Brown opened the first Joe Bean’s in 2000. At the time, Joe Bean’s was the Lynchburg area’s only drive-through coffee shop. What began as one small trailer, grew into multiple establishments. Nineteen-years and 100 employees later, Joe Bean’s has established a good reputation with locals.

 

Joe Bean’s is known for its brewed coffee of the month, specialty lattes, mochas, and fruit smoothies. With a wide range of drinks and lots of customizable options, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Joe Bean’s six other locations are visited by over 1,000 customers a day and see lines of cars wrap around the parking lots every morning. Other locations include those in Lynchburg on Timberlake Road, Wards Road and Linkhorne Road, and in the towns of Bedford, Appomattox and Altavista.

 

Joe Bean’s is the perfect coffee shop for busy people who do not like to be bothered making coffee at home. Customers in a rush experience fast service and receive a quality beverage handcrafted by a trained barista.

 

“We put a lot of emphasis on our product,” Brown said. “If the customers aren’t satisfied with an order, then we’ll keep remaking the drink until they are.”

Joe Bean’s does not have a sit-down area because part of its brand is express service. However, the drive-through set up has not stopped customers from connecting with baristas who recognize them as regulars as they come by Joe Bean’s daily. The baristas affectionately nickname the customers, to remember their special order. Cookie Monster, 13 Raw Sugar and Sweetart are some of the nicknames coined to describe special orders like a venti black coffee with 13 raw sugars.

 

Joe Bean’s hours are 6 a. m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Stop by to see what’s brewing and experience what this small coffee shop has to offer.
